Session 1 - What's New in Making the ASK in 2022?

We all have learned quite a bit over these last 2 years, and it has indeed reshaped the way we need to ask for support. Whether our ask is in writing, in-person, or virtual, the words we select and the tone we use are of critical importance. Additionally, we need to be extremely sensitive to external events such as the state of health care, economy, and elections that are on our supporters’ minds. We will explore how to make the annual, major, planned, corporate, foundation, and campaign ask in a whole new way with sustainable success. These techniques will also help your board members refine and enhance their asking skills.

Session 2 - Total Board Engagement = Total Board Satisfaction

Yes you truly can have your board members willingly help you with fundraising!  This session will be divided in three parts: 1) Basic elements every organization needs prior to inviting a person to join your board (you would be surprised how many are missing!); 2) Steps we need to take with each board member individually so that we motivate and inspire them to want to help fundraise; and 3) Training techniques that will bring each  board member to their next level and skill with fundraising.

AFP Tampa Bay’s highest priority is the health and safety of our members, guests and speakers.  At the current time, the AFP Board of Directors is planning to host the February program in person.  We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 environment and, should we feel it necessary, may offer the program virtually rather than in person.  We appreciate your consideration and understanding as we navigate through these uncertain times.

Meeting Guidelines

AFP Tampa Bay recognizes the importance of personal connection, but your health is our priority. According to the CDC, a fully vaccinated individual may return to many of their activities before the pandemic but still take precautions. Thus, when attending an in-person membership meeting, several protocols remain in place for your safety. Please take a moment to read the guidelines below and confirm on your registration that you agree to comply.
Guidelines:
  • Our meetings are mask friendly. Masks are recommended and encouraged to be worn except for when eating or drinking.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided, and restrooms are located nearby for hand washing.
  • Nametags will be on a table for guests and will be collected after the event and properly sanitized before storage.
  • We trust one another to exercise appropriate behavior when networking. Please be respectful of others comfort level that may differ from yours.
We ask that you not attend if:
  • You have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
  • You have been recently exposed to someone with COVID-19.
  • You are waiting on COVID-19 test results.
  • You feel you may be becoming sick, running a fever, or experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID-19 such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath. See a full list of symptoms here.
