Byron joined Gregory, Sharer & Stuart (GSS) in 1999 and became a shareholder in 2001. He is the leader of our Wealth Strategies & Services Team and Not-for-Profit Industry Service Team and oversees all tax services rendered for our not-for-profit clients. His areas of concentration include planning for wealth accumulation and preservation, taxation and accounting issues regarding estates and trusts, board governance, and tax consulting for not-for-profit organizations.
Byron has developed extensive knowledge in service to not-for-profit organizations, charitable giving, and business succession planning for closely-held businesses. In addition, Byron has been actively involved in comprehensive income tax planning for individuals, S corporations, controlled groups and partnerships in retail, manufacturing, agricultural, and various service industries and client representation before the Internal Revenue Service.

Senior Manager, Tax Services
When Catherine Mary joined the Tax Department of Gregory, Sharer & Stuart in 2005, she already had over five years of public accounting experience in the Tampa Bay area. Her work at GSS has since led to a specialization in tax planning and preparation, exempt organization issues and the resolution of IRS inquiries. She serves individuals and businesses in a wide variety of industries, focusing primarily on not-for-profit, construction, real estate, healthcare, professional services and retail.
Catherine Mary is a member of our Not-for-Profit Industry Service Team. In this role, she gives presentations to board members and groups regarding gift acceptance policies, Form 990 updates, public support matters, board governance and tax issues for not-for-profit organizations. She also helps clients navigate IRS audits, new market tax credits and tax planning issues. She oversees managers, seniors and staff in completing tax returns, researches various topics and coordinates efforts with our audit department and shareholders for the timely completion of all Form 990 tax returns.
